My friend, contemplative artist Marg Rehnberg, of CompassionArt, is passionate to use her art to support the fight for global justice. In this “Global Women Series” Marg superimposed photos by International Justice Mission photographer Ted Haddock against a background of her abstract paintings. The composite images are printed on 4” x 4” wood blocks, with the story of each woman printed on the back. Production of the art pieces was paid for by an outside funder, so 100% of your $25 donation will go directly to International Justice Mission to support their work on behalf of women, men and children trapped in slavery, exploited sexually, or victimized by other forms of violent oppression.

Agnes
Agnes, a school director, and the other
capable faculty at the Bugabya
Preperatory School lost their school,
their jobs, and their dream for their
small Ugandian Village when Agnes’
powerful uncle used deception and
bribery to claim the school property as
his. But IJM attorneys presented
Agnes’ case and the schoolyard is again
filled with smiling faces and dreams. |
Shaibya
Shaibya and her family were
trapped as slaves in a rice mill,
working 16 hours a day in the
burning sun and being verbally
and physically abused. Shaibya’s
soul ached as she watched her
three children suffer. But in an
IJM raid, Shaibya and her family
were set free. She and her
husband now have a successful
charcoal manufacturing business
and their children are attending
school.

Miriam
On five acres outside Nairobi,
Kenya, Miriam was the matriarch of
over 100 dependents until 1985,
when she was unjustly stripped of
her land by a powerful man in her
community. But in 2006, IJM
succeeded in securing Miriam’s
property rights. After 20 years of
struggle, Miriam - in her 90s - is
once again farming her land and
leaving a legacy of courage and
freedom for her family. |
